Privacy on this website.

This page describes, in plain language, what actually happens when you use Sogo Beans & Boards's website. It is not a legal document — just an honest account of what we collect, why, and where it goes.

What we collect, and why

The contact form and the events enquiry form only ask for what they need to get back to you: your name, email, phone number if you give it, and whatever you write about your event or question. Those forms are delivered by a service called Web3Forms, which emails the submission straight to the shop's inbox. We don't store submissions in a database of our own — they arrive as an email, the same way a message to us always would.

If you sign up for our email list — the newsletter signup or the back-garden tap bar waitlist — your email address is added to our mailing list through Klaviyo, the email service we use to send updates. You're subscribed as soon as you sign up (single opt-in), and every email we send has an unsubscribe link.

Buying coffee beans

If you order beans from the beans page, the bag you build is kept in your own browser and nowhere else — we cannot see it, and it never leaves your device until you press Checkout. There is no account to make and no password to remember.

When you press Checkout, you are sent to Stripe, the payment company, on Stripe's own website. Your card number, name and shipping address are typed in there, and they go to Stripe — not to us. Nobody at Sogo ever sees your card details, and this website never handles them.

What we do see afterwards, in our Stripe account, is the ordinary paperwork of an order: what you bought, what you paid, your name, email address and the shipping address to post it to. We use that to send you the coffee, to answer you if you write to us, and to keep the records a business has to keep. We don't add it to a mailing list — signing up for emails is a separate choice you make yourself.

Stripe handles the payment under its own privacy policy, which you can read at stripe.com/privacy.

What we don't do

We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this site — no Google Analytics, no Meta/Facebook Pixel, no ad retargeting scripts of any kind. That is still true of the shop: buying beans does not put a tracking pixel on your visit, and we do not follow you around the internet with ads for coffee you already bought. We don't sell or share your information with advertisers.

Embeds from other services

A few things on this site are loaded from outside services, each doing exactly one job:

• Our Instagram feed on the homepage is pulled in by a service called LightWidget, which loads posts directly from Instagram.
• The map showing our location is an embedded Google Maps iframe.

Loading these embeds may let those services (Instagram/Meta, Google) know your browser visited a page that includes them — that's a normal part of how embedded content works on the web, and it's between you and those services, not something we control or see.

Where this site lives

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a static hosting provider. Loading any page on this site means your browser makes a request to Cloudflare's servers, the same as visiting any website.
